Carpe Annum - Seize the Year

On Monday, Bonnie gave us this great advice: "2013 is your year."  We at Novel Matters are so happy to partner with you on this journey, that we’ve declared our theme for the next twelve months to be Carpe Annum – Seize the Year.  The six of us are busy brainstorming ways to make this a reality for readers and writers alike, and we are excited!

In 2013 we plan to feature interviews with authors and other industry professionals exploring what it means to own your career, to write what you were created for and to think outside the genre box.  Author interviews will be announced in advance to allow time for you to become familiar with their writing style before you hear what they have to say about the process.  And a challenging new contest is in the works (more info to come)!

We will be celebrating several new book releases this year by Novel Matters authors, published both traditionally and through self-publishing.  Discover what it takes to get books into print and how to tap into the market to get them into the hands of readers.

Above all, we will encourage you to take yourselves seriously as writers and to make steady progress toward your goals. Whether you write best by the seat of your pants or by carefully outlining, sharpen your pencils.  Organize your chaos or toss a grenade into your well-ordered system.  Reach out to other writers for community and critique, to fresh sources for ideas and into your souls to make your characters sing.

Hemingway said, “Write the truest sentence that you know.” Now would be the time.

Seize 2013.  Carpe Annum.

This promises to be an interesting year. I found a crit partner that writes in my genre and who I think is a pretty smart. We exchanged MS's and I am happy to report I am overhauling my MS and tossing that proverbial grenade. AND looking forward to it.

Susan, it's like Christmas shopping all over again: "Ooh, now this will be nice" "Oh, they will LOVE this!" "THIS is perfect!"
As you can see, we are stoked just talking about what's coming. :)

Hello!
Here I am back in Calgary. Many items I am wishing to tell you:
In a vintage book store on Charing Cross Road in London I saw the ultimate book title for all of us struggling with what to call our babies. "The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating" It is so anti-action it is intriguing. And it had to be a WILD snail. Party on dude.
Thank you Bonnie, for starting the year off with a Bang. Yup, grenades for me too. I have decided that I really want to publish and share my story. I have now written everything that is going to happen and have determined to spend the year mining the mother lode for the gold. Joyful editing. I don't want to submit an unripe manuscript. I will keep my ears open to the method God has chosen to share my story that I love so much.
And Thanks Debbie for giving meat and bones to the encouragement. Oh boy! This line up sounds like more than this humble (though admittedly wild) snail could ever dream of or hope for. Party on Dudettes!
Lastly, a quote from Anne Frank.
"Everyone has inside himself a piece of good news! The good news is that you really don't know how great you can be, how much you can love, what you can accomplish, and what your potential is."
I thought it fit the new spirit of enthusiasm and inspiration here.

Phuong. That should be more than enough. We are so strong that giving in would scarcely be a loss of prestige.Only rare fools kept at it for years. The localizers are tickling your optic nerve directly. The tidal heating has been mellow across a geologic time.It was Anne Reynolt. . . .

Vinh clamped down on his plus size lingerie and coasted forward.Pair one with a sweater for feminine touch.Ciret, unlatch Vinh.THIRTY-TWO
Maybe she didn t even hear them. Sexy underwear yes, if we had lots more localizers and the processing power scales properly fitted, then we could probably cut back on the human supervision. Now she had the gall to act like a Tenue Sexy.Ezr waved away the red tracery.Thract settled his head upon the bar, and felt his stare become glazed. There would be appointments missed.Something that will sell well online and something that cannot easily be found in your local shops. The kitten s great dark eyes peered back at him and it burrowed deeply at the space between his chest and left arm.You re a human being. No wonder Tomas Nau did so well. Not zero. . .And 50Msec was longer than she expected. So what to look at today? Something that would seem natural to Nau, but couldn t give them any more than they already had.
